Storage and Insurance
All assets are stored and insured with Coterie Vaults, a state-of-the-art bonded warehouse facility purpose built for the storage of fine wine.
To protect resale value, investment-grade wine should always be stored "in bond". This means in a third-party UK government approved bonded warehouse. These warehouses ensure that temperature, light and humidity are controlled. It also means that VAT and Duty are suspended for as long as the wines are held in bond, as the wine is deemed as having not passed through customs.
WineFi has a preferential deal with Coterie Vaults, a purpose-built storage facility for fine wine located in Suffolk, UK. Coterie Vaults is a fully-owned subsidiary of our strategic partners, Coterie Holdings.
- Secure and Transparent Storage: Upon acquiring assets through WineFi, we will set up a clearly-labelled sub-account in your name.
- Independent Verification: You will be able to inspect and audit the assets should you so choose, and verify the condition of the assets with a third-party.
- Comprehensive Asset Protection: Your assets are insured at full market value.
Coterie Vaults stores all wines in perfect conditions. In practice, this means the following:
- High Security. The facility is monitored 24 hours a day. For goods coming in or out, an air-lock chamber is used to always maintain security.
- Light and Vibration Controlled. Light speeds up the aging process of wine, so Coterie Vaults ensure the wines spend most of the time in the dark. Small vibrations can also disturb a wine’s sediment, increasing chemical reactions and the ageing process . Coterie Vaults has "marble-like" polished floors and bespoke, uniquely designed handling vehicles to reduce vibration as much as possible.
- Temperature controlled at 12°. This is important because fluctuations in temperature may cause the cork to expand and contract, letting air into the bottle and damaging the wine.
